Introduction
Functional movement disorder is characterized by involuntary movements, such as spasms, shaking or jerks. These movement symptoms are not due to a recognized neurological or medical cause. We would like to better understand how the brain works to cause these symptoms. We will use intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS), a non-invasive method to stimulate the brain, to study how different parts of the brain act and connect to one another. We hope this study will improve our understanding of FMD. This study includes iTBS, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and questionnaires. The goal of this study is to evaluate whether intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS), a non-invasive method used to stimulate the brain, may have an effect on brain areas involved in FMD symptoms. We want to look at the effect of iTBS on these brain areas using functional magnetic resonance imaging of the brain. We will also look at the effect of iTBS on your mood and motor symptoms.
